Special Rules

Baby & Infant Photos

The baby must be alone in the photo with no supporting hands, other people, or objects visible. Eyes do not need to be fully open for newborns. Natural expression is acceptable and the mouth may be slightly open.

No Selfies

US passport photos must be taken by someone else. Self-portraits (selfies) are not accepted.

No Digital Alterations

No computer software alterations, phone apps, filters, artificial intelligence enhancements, retouching, or blemish removal are permitted on US passport photos.

Photo Recency

The photo must have been taken within the last 6 months and must reflect the applicant's current appearance.

Clothing

Everyday clothing is acceptable. Uniforms, camouflage attire, and uniform-like clothing are not permitted.
